The Increasingly Odious Ted Cruz

In addition to his "so what else is new?" plan to shut down the federal government this Fall over Planned Parenthood funding, Republican presidential candidate Sen. "Tailgunner Ted" Cruz (Crackpot-TX) is opining on the jailing of "traditional marriage" Bible banger and 4-times "traditional married" Kentucky clerk Kim "Dim" Davis:
“Today, judicial lawlessness crossed into judicial tyranny. Today, for the first time ever, the government arrested a Christian woman for living according to her faith. This is wrong. This is not America.
I stand with Kim Davis. Unequivocally. I stand with every American that the Obama Administration is trying to force to chose [sic] between honoring his or her faith or complying with a lawless court opinion."
The judicial lawbreaker in this case is Federal District Judge David Bunning, who was appointed to the court by George W. Bush.  And the court opinion is based on the Supreme Court's Obergefell ruling legalizing same sex marriage, as in "law of the land."

Capitalizing on  last week's murder of Harris Co. (TX) Deputy Sheriff Darren Goforth, "Tailgunner Ted" sank to hitherto unexplored depths of depravity this week, implicating President Obama and his administration in the murder thusly:
“Cops across this country are feeling the assault,” Cruz said Tuesday after a presidential campaign event in Milford, New Hampshire.
“They’re feeling the assault from the president,” the senator continued. “From the top on down, as we see — whether it’s in Ferguson or Baltimore — the response of senior officials of the president, of the attorney general, is to vilify law enforcement. That is fundamentally wrong, and it is endangering the safety and security of us all.”
That neither the President nor anyone in his administration has ever "vilified law enforcement" is beside the point to "Tailgunner Ted."  Demagogues don't need the facts;  demagogues just need words, preferably words that incite.  Desperate demagogues like "Tailgunner Ted" Cruz come along once or twice in a generation (see "Tailgunner Ted's" namesake - the resemblance is more than skin deep). As long as this ambitious, desperate bottom feeder remains in office, he'll always be finding new depths to plumb.
