It's the great humorist
Will Rogers' 140th birthday today. Much of his political humor has a current familiarity to it; here are a few of his quips as examples:
"
The 1928 Republican Convention opened with a prayer. If the Lord can see His way clear to bless the Republican Party the way its been carrying on, then the rest of us ought to get it without even asking."
"
The difference between a Republican and a Democrat is the Democrat is a cannibal they have to live off each other, while the Republicans, why, they live off the Democrats."
And, his oft- quoted,
"
I belong to no organized party. I am a Democrat."
