DEVELOPING: A manhunt is underway in Minnesota for a suspect in the “targeted shootings” of Democratic state lawmakers. The assailant, who remains at large, allegedly impersonated a police officer. One lawmaker and her spouse were fatally shot, while a second lawmaker and his spouse were injured.

The Minnesota assassinations, the attempted arson at Governor Shapiro's home, and the violent arrest of Senator Padilla are all straight out of the Jim Crow terrorism playbook. Same goes with cops aiming for journalists covering the ICE protests. None of these are new tactics, just a new iteration.

Now that Trump has suspended deportation raids in the agriculture and hospitality industries, it's even worse that Dems failed to put their stamp on the right side of this debate. This dereliction could now let Trump get away with recasting his climbdown as sensible recalibration on his part. Awful.
