Mid-Week Song

Bon Iver, led by musician / composer / ubiquitous collaborator Justin Vernon, has a new album out, their fifth, "SABLE, fABLE." A playful video of a song from that album, "From," is our featured song today.

Mid-Week Song

We almost let December pass without featuring one of our favorite "winter-named" groups: Bon Iver (from the French "bon hiver" or good winter). Group founder Justin Vernon has made his mark not only with the band, but as a featured contributor and composer for such diverse artists as Jay-Z, James Blake, Bruce Hornsby, Japanese House, and Taylor Swift. Here, he teams with LA-based indie pop singer / composer Ethan Gruska on "So Unimportant," a non-album single released earlier this year. Enjoy.

Mid-Week Song: New Bon Iver

One of the best indie-folk bands, Bon Iver, has been creating great tunes over the past 15 years, garnering Grammy awards and many fans along the way. They've also collaborated with the likes of Taylor Swift, James Blake, Beck and others on their albums. Bon Iver (from the French "bon hiver," or good winter) formed in Wisconsin, where they know "good" winters well enough. Here's "Second Nature", their new release from the soundtrack of the film "Don't Look Up," starring Meryl Streep and Leonardo DiCaprio.

Mid-Week Song

One of America's best indie bands, Bon Iver, released a new single last week entitled "PDLIF" (Please Don't Live In Fear), which displays their rock and folk sensibilities with an overlay of jazz. The band is donating all proceeds from this song to Direct Relief, a nonprofit organization which provides resources to people in need during the pandemic crisis. Enjoy.

Mid-Week Faith Song

One of our favorite indie rock groups, Bon Iver (from the French "bon hiver," or good winter), has a new album, "U", coming out next month. One of the tracks from that album, "Faith," is our mid-week song. Enjoy.

Mid-Week 22 Song

Bon Iver (from the French bon hiver, or "good winter") is one of the finest indie folk groups around, formed in Wisconsin in 2007, and a long-time favorite of ours. Built around a core of founder Justin Vernon, with keyboardist Sean Carey and drummer Matthew McCaughan, the group has been nominated for 9 Grammys and has won two. Our song today,"22 (OVER S∞∞N)", is from the band's 2016 album "22, A Million," here performed live at the Pitchfork Music Festival in Paris this past fall. Enjoy.

Mid-Week Number Song

The cutting-edge indie folk group Bon Iver (pronounced as bone eeVAIR, after the French bon hiver or "good winter") has been a blog favorite for years. Formed in Wisconsin in 2007 by songwriter and lead singer Justin Vernon, the group has won critical praise and two Grammys in 2012 for Best New Artist and Best Alternative Music Album. After a five year hiatus, they released a new album entitled "22, A Million" on September 30. Here's a cut from that album, "29 #Strafford APTS."

Weekend Song

With our minds still somewhat on Wisconsin, we thought we'd offer a song by a band that hails from those parts, Bon Iver. Have a great weekend.

Mid-Week, All-Wisconsin Wednesday

We turn again to indie artists Bon Iver (bone ee VAIR), and this cut "Wisconsin" from their album, "For Emma, Forever Ago." Congrats also to the new 2012 Miss America/Miss Wisconsin, Laura Kaeppeler from Kenosha, crowned last Saturday. (Sadly, we can't include the Green Bay Packers in our celebration this time).

Mid-Week Song

Indie rock group Bon Iver (pronounced bone eeVAIR, after the French bon hiver/"good winter") formed several years ago in Wisconsin (bonus points). In a recent appearance on The Colbert Report, they played "Calgary" off of their just-released album, "Bon Iver."
