Willard's Bind-er

It was hard not to find a cartoon about arrogant plutocrat Willard "Binders Full of Women" Romney's clueless statement in Tuesday's debate. Not only did his response not answer the specific question about his position on equal pay for equal work, he lied about asking "women's groups" for resumes as Massachusetts Governor-elect. The resumes were prepared prior to the election for whomever won. Here's a sampling (click to enlarge):

"Mitt Romney’s senior campaign adviser, Eric Fehrnstrom, on Sunday said that social issues important to women, like contraception coverage and abortion rights, were “shiny objects” that were being used to distract voters." (our emphasis)

Fehrnstrom, bumbling creator of the felicitous "Etch-A-Sketch" moniker for his boss, would like voters to believe Willard "My Wife Reports to Me What Women Think" Romney knows nothing, NOTHING! about what the troglodytes in his party are up to in trying to redefine personhood, overturning Roe v. Wade, and generally police the womb of every woman in America. He's hoping voters have short attention spans and don't remember Willard's constant pandering to those crackpots during the primary season. But, Willard has put on the record what he'd do about Planned Parenthood (end the funding), Roe v. Wade (overturn it!), access to contraception (side with the reactionary Catholic bishops), as well as equal pay for women issues (he'll get back to us on that). "Shiny objects" indeed!

Whew! That's going to take a lot of shaking of that Etch-A-Sketch!

"It was my early birthday present for someone to be critical of me as a mother, and that was really a defining moment, and I loved it." -- Mrs. Willard Romney, speaking to a crowd of mega-donors in Florida, exposing the Romney campaign's manufactured "outrage" over a Democratic pundit's comment that Mrs. Willard "never worked a day in her life." What the pundit was referring to is the fact that Mrs. Willard never worked outside the home, as many women without her wealth have to, so she wasn't the best choice to be giving Willard advice on women's economic issues.

Of course, as we noted yesterday, say-anything-Willard said in January that women with 2 year old kids should go back to work so that they could experience the "dignity of work." So much for Mrs. Willard's stay-at-home mom schtick.
