Dangerous sociopath and malignant narcissist Donald "Moron Vector" Trump's suggestion yesterday (see post below) that he may call for a premature suspension of social distancing and business closures to "restart" the economy, against the urging of doctors and public health experts, has provoked intense backlash and the creation of #gopdeathpanels:

As some have pointed out, the desperate Rethugs would be targeting a key demographic of theirs for elimination if this were played out. And being "pro-life" to them ends with childbirth, as we've known all along. There's some comfort in the fact that mayors and governors drive the public health rules within their respective jurisdictions, unless Trump tells his cult to go back to work anyway.

But the depraved thinking that we should be willing to expose segments of our population, including all people with compromised immune systems, for the good of Wall Street and cash flush corporations is beyond obscene, but predictable for the members of this corrupt, rotted out authoritarian clique of a party.

Moocher Alert: Get Your Government Hands Off My Food Stamps!

From Bloomberg News (via Daily Kos):

Among the 254 counties where food stamp recipients doubled between 2007 and 2011, Republican Mitt Romney won 213 of them in last year’s presidential election, according to U.S. Department of Agriculture data compiled by Bloomberg. Kentucky’s Owsley County, which backed Romney with 81 percent of its vote, has the largest proportion of food stamp recipients among those that he carried. [...]

The Bloomberg review of 2,049 counties where the data was available included the 250 with the highest concentration of food stamp recipients. Among that group, 227 are wholly within one congressional district, with 160 represented by Republicans and 67 by Democrats.

Of course, unlike food stamp recipients that are moochers Democrats, these good moochers folks earned their food stamps!

Profiles In Chivalry

Beset by numerous conflict of interest problems, Virginia's Rethuglican Governor Bob "Blowdry Bob" McDonnell is now claiming that a private event at the Governor's executive mansion in 2011 that involved Blowdry Bob's financial backer and notorious gift horse Jonnie Williams was orchestrated by his wife.  Blowdry Bob must figure that if he's going down, he'll take his better half with him.  (Mrs. McDonnell hasn't been a slouch in cashing in either, including some expensive gowns and accessories paid for by her husband's PAC).

We're guessing that after throwing his spouse under the bus, Blowdry Bob may have to bed down on the executive mansion sofa for the duration of his term.

The Company You Keep

Minnesota loon and teabagger queen Rep. Michele "Crazy Eyes" Bachmann has been having a series of legal and ethical problems stemming from her run at the Rethug nomination last year.  Now, her senior legislative aide has been arrested for theft.   Javier Sanchez was charged with theft of money or items under $1,000 in value (stealing pencils and staplers will get you nowhere, Javier -- aim higher.  Your boss has.)  Crazy Eyes is in her last term as the chief pinhead in the Rethug caucus, but will no doubt follow snowbilly grifter Sarah "Winky" Palin on the book / speech / fundraising grift circuit the day after her term ends.
