Mid-Week Song

 

Ontario, Canada, indie band The Strumbellas are out with their latest album, "Part Time Believer," and our song choice today is a track from it, "Steal My Soul." Simon Ward, the group's original lead singer on such hits as "Sprits" and "We Don't Know" has assumed a non-performing role as songwriter, and has been replaced by Jimmy Chauveau, with little change to their sound. Weekend Music Twofer

 

We've featured The Strumbellas, an indie group from Canada, several times in the past.  Today, we're featuring their latest anthemic single, "Running Out Of Time." 

J Mascis, lead guitar for the influential rock band Dinosaur Jr, is out with a single "Can't Believe We're Here" from his upcoming album "What Do We Do Now."  The video features appearances by David Cross, Fred Armisen, Amber Tambly, and more.  Classic rock and great hooks.  Hope you enjoy.

(Not So) Mid-Week Don't Know Song

The Strumbellas, one of the best indie rock/folk bands from Canada, had an international hit two years ago with "Spirits," from their album "Hope." Another great tune from that album, "We Don't Know," is our mid-week song, appropriate for these times, performed in studio on the Canadian Broadcasting Company network. Enjoy.

Weekend Spirit Song

Canada's alternative/indie rock group The Strumbellas, who've won Canada's coveted Juno music award,  released their single "Spirits" a few months ago.  The song is about someone struggling with their inner demons, and trying to overcome them so they can live in a better world. It topped the U.S. alternative singles charts, and is a compelling song, lyrically and musically, that has a way of sticking with you, especially after Orlando.
