Dead-Eye Man Walking

Universal health care will be one of the key issues in the 2008 elections, as it should be. Think Progress passes along a wonderfully ironic ad by the California Nurses Association, which points out that Dead Eye Dick Cheney would be a dead man if not for his Federal health benefits coverage. His history of heart problems would have given him a "death sentence", according to the nurses' group, without the blue-chip health insurance provided to him.

Check out the exchange between Michele Griffin, a waitress at the Red Arrow diner in Manchester, New Hampshire, and Willard "Ask Mitt Anything" Romney, wherein Dr. Muffster has to go off-script with a real, live, working-class person with real, live, working-class problems with the state of health insurance in the United States. Watch the mousse start to melt as Dr. Muffster has to search for thoughts beyond his rehearsed talking points. Well done, Ms. Griffin! Dr. Muffster, heal thyself!
