Weekend Music Threefer

Today we're featuring music for another social- distancing weekend.

"Don't Stand So Close To Me," by The Police, has that social- distancing title (but we know that's not what the song's about, as the video makes clear!).

"Handle Me With Care," by The Traveling Wilburys, also has a title that suggests how we should treat everyone affected by the pandemic, whether sick, well, struggling or not.

"Three Little Birds," is a Bob Marley song that has an optimistic message that we hope will be borne out in the long term (after some hard work and dedication);  it's also to honor Marley, who passed away 39 years ago on May 11.

Mid-Week One Love Song

Today, reggae great Bob Marley would have turned 74 (he passed away in 1981 of cancer). His impact on music -- from his chosen reggae genre to rock, pop and hip hop music -- was truly significant and lasting. The Jamaica Tourist Board has used his song "One Love" for the past 25 years to capture the enchantment and humanity of Jamaica that Marley gave expression to in his artistry. Enjoy.

Weekend Musical Twofer

Geowulf is Australian duo Star Kendrick and Toma Banjanin, currently based in London. They describe their sound as "beach pop," and since they list Beach House and the Beach Boys among their influences, we guess they've identified their genre pretty well (we might also humbly suggest "dream pop").  Here's "Saltwater," released in July 2016:



Our second selection is the great Bob Marley's "Stand Up," which is one of many anthems we're hearing as the resistance builds to Lord Dampnut.  Bob, who died at the age of 36 in 1981, would have been 72 this past Monday (h/t Silver Spring Bureau Chief Brian).
