Weekend Music

 

Thirty years ago this month, the Gin Blossoms released the fourth single from their "New Miserable Experience" album, "Found Out About You."  Written by their troubled bassist and chief songwriter Doug Hopkins (who was fired from the band in February 1992 and committed suicide in December 1993), members of the GBs expressed the feeling that it was the best song Hopkins ever wrote. It's our choice today.

Mid-Week Songs: Birthday Twofer

 

Fleetwood Mac, one the the most iconic and influential groups of the past 50 years, had the luxury of two great female singers. Stevie Nicks, and the late singer / composer / keyboardist Christine McVie, who would have turned 80 today. Here she sings the beautiful lead vocals on their 1975 hit,  "Over My Head."

From one of our favorite groups, the Gin Blossoms, their lead singer Robin Wilson celebrates his 58th birthday today. Here he is singing on, "Allison Road," a song he also wrote.

Mid-Week Found Out Song

The Gin Blossoms, originally from Tempe, AZ, have graced our blog a couple of times, but not with this number one hit of theirs from 1994. The video was shot at LA's now demolished Ambassador Hotel. Why not find out something today?
