"What Happened to Obama?"

This op/ed by Drew Westen is like a gut-punch to those of us who have seen the Obama presidency lose its way over the past two years. What happened, indeed. A congenital lack of spine? A clueless naivety? Would that Drew Westen had been Obama's political adviser instead of David Quackselrod or David "Poof" Plouffe during times that called for a Great Champion rather than a Great Compromiser (if by "compromise" you mean giving the hostage-takers "98%" of what they wanted).

After reading Paul Krugman's blog item on Obama's statement that he "doesn't begrudge" the millions in bonuses to JP Morgan Chase's Jamie Dimon ($17mil) and Goldman Sachs' Lloyd Blankfein ($9mil) are hauling in, we must say in accord with Krugman: Oh. My. God.

We can't lay the blame this time on Geithner, or Summers, or Rahmbo. No, unfortunately this case of catastrophic tin ear is all Obama.
