From the Sports Desk

The Hackwhacker brothers had a very rewarding week of football, beginning with the Packers' victory on Thursday over the Saints, followed on Saturday by Wisconsin handily beating Oregon State, Michigan (sporting retro uniforms) winning a thriller over Notre Dame, and yesterday, the Redskins downing the Giants. Then, to make our joy complete, the Dallas Cowpies lost to the Jets on Sunday night (ed. note -- when will sports media jackasses stop calling the Cowpies "America's Team?")

Now, put down those brats and beer, and back away slowly. . . .

Cards and "Stillers" Going To The Big Dance

Congratulations to fans of the Arizona Cardinals and the Pittsburgh Steelers, who are going to the 43rd Super Bowl on Feb. 1. The Cardinals last won the NFL championship in 1947, as the Chicago Cardinals. The "Stillers" -- as our friends from Pennsylvania call them -- won Super Bowl XL in 2006. Both teams' roots go back to the beginning of professional football, so we can say both teams are "sentimental favorites."
