Recall Walker Cartoon of the Day

(Stuart Carlson, via gocomics.com)

It's Recall Walker day in Wisconsin. Show them that out-of-state money from wealthy wingnuts can't buy your State, and that you won't elect someone under criminal investigation.

Countdown to Indictment?

We'll see how many low-information spuds, morons and Rethuglican dead-enders (plenty of overlap) there are in Wisconsin after Tuesday's recall election, but anyone voting for Rethug hero and Koch fiend Scott "Unindicted Co-conspirator" Walker while having even a vague familiarity with this steaming mess would have to have a cheddar-filled noggin.

Sunday Cartoon - Wisconsin Recall Edition

(Matt Wuerker, via Daily Kos)

Cheeseheads take note: Tuesday is Recall Election Day in Wisconsin. It's time to recall unindicted co-conspirator Gov. Scott "Divide and Conquer" Walker and show the world that Wisconsin is not going to be bought and sold by the Koch Brothers and the other plutocrats running the Rethuglican Party.

Quote of the Day

I have a police department that arrests felons. He has a practice of hiring them.” -- Bada-bing! Wisconsin Democratic gubernatorial candidate Mayor Tom Barrett, at Thursday night's debate, referring to Gov. Scott "Unindicted Co-conspirator" Walker. The recall election is Tuesday, June 5, after which time we're betting Walker will be indicted on corruption charges, along with his already-indicted hirees, whether he's recalled or not.

Will the Dems grab defeat out of the jaws of victory next Tuesday in Wisconsin? It's looking that way, barring a Dem turnout of major proportions. Former President Clinton will be stumping for Dem Tom Barrett, but where were the President and Vice President? Where was the Democratic National Committee?

Tweet Of The Day

Here's a timely tweet from Cher to Democratic National Committee Chair Debbie Wasserman-Schultz. Message to DNC: The Wisconsin recall election is a watershed for progressives and labor; don't sit on the sidelines with your resources.

Walker's "Divide and Conquer" Strategy for Wisconsin

This is the trailer for a documentary, "As Goes Janesville," that looks at the struggle of working-class Wisconsinites and how Wisconsin's Koch-sniffing Governor Scott Walker had a plan from the very beginning to bust unions under the guise of "budget-cutting." They need to recall this SOB's ass on June 5.

The hollow-eyed harridan who chats him up starting at about 7:50 in the video is Diane Hendricks, multi-millionaire far-right wingnut doyenne, owner of the ABC Supply Co., a major wholesaler of roofing, siding and other exterior building products. She's a piece of work herself.

Total Recall

Today is election day in Wisconsin, where several Rethuglican state senators are battling for survival. Heavy outside spending by corporate front groups like "Americans for (Corporate) Prosperity" is counterbalanced by on-the-ground, get out the vote efforts by progressive and labor organizations.

Three victories by Dems will change the balance in the State Senate, but whatever the election results, the progressive/labor base has been awakened, not only in Wisconsin, but in Ohio, Michigan and Florida, where collective bargaining rights of police, firefighters, and teachers (among others) has been threatened by far right reactionary Rethuglicans. Let the floodgates open!

Wisconsin Fakes Fail

As we noted yesterday, Wisconsin Rethuglicans tried to disrupt the recall challenges to six of their State senators by running fake Dems against real ones in the Democratic primaries which were held yesterday. Happily, the voters in Wisconsin saw through the dirty trick, and all of the fakes lost.

Now, it's on to the August 9 recall vote. Expect the Rethugs to pull out all the stops to suppress votes for the Democratic side, because they can't win on the merits, or in a fair fight.

Rethug Robocalls In Wisconsin: "Don't Need to Vote"

Today is Recall Tuesday in Wisconsin, where a primary is being held to determine which Democrats will face the 6 Rethuglican State senators being recalled. And, as one has come to expect, the dirty tricks are continuing (you may recall Rethugs are running fake Democrats in order to keep anyone from getting a majority of votes, thus requiring a costly runoff). Registered Democrats report getting calls from an out-of-state outfit presenting themselves as a "right to life" group, telling them that they needn't go out to vote because an absentee ballot is on its way to them!

We're used to Rethug dirty tricks in Maryland. Last gubernatorial election, the Rethugs were robocalling to keep Democrats away from the polls ("the election's already decided; you don't need to go vote!"). Those assfarts are being prosecuted, as we hope the ones trying to pull these tricks in Wisconsin will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law as well.
