Mitt's Mendacity, Cont.

If it's Friday... Steve Benen has this week's collection of smarmy untruths uncoiling from the tongue of silk stocking plutocrat Willard "Mitt the Twit" Romney. This week's tally is 28(!). We would highlight for your amusement/ outrage #2, wherein Mitt the Twit says President Obama doesn't have a jobs plan. Um, actually, he does; it's the "American Jobs Act," the legislation Rethugs in Congress have refused to pass so they can continue to sabotage the economy in the hopes of victory in November.

As far as a knee slapper, we would offer up #26, wherein the trust fund baby claims in an ad that he knows what it's like "to wonder whether you're going to be able to make ends meet." Trust us. Willard Romney never, never spent one moment of his silver-spoon-fed life wondering about ends meeting. We'll bet Willard $10,000 on that.

Picture of the Day

A bit of a Freudian slip by Willard "Corporations Are People" Romney, wouldn't you say?

Millionaire Mitt Drops Bomb At Ford Field...

... Luckily, no one was there so Willard was the only casualty. (Willard "Millionaire Mitt" Romney hires out Ford Field in Detroit to bore a mere 1,200 one-percenters -- just because he could!)

What are those things in the middle of the top photo? They can't be teleprompters! Only the affirmative action Kenyan usurper uses teleprompters!

BONUS: Clueless plutocrat Mittens' only take-away line from the elaborately staged speech, speaking about his wife: "Ann drives a couple of Cadillacs." Hopefully not at the same time.

$374,000 "Not Very Much" to Millionaire Mitt

From the Huffington Post:

"In Greenville, S.C., Romney was asked directly what his effective tax rate is. It was a hot topic of discussion at Monday night's debate, at which Romney repeatedly declined to fully commit to release his tax returns.

"'It's probably closer to the 15 percent rate than anything,' said Romney on Tuesday. 'For the past 10 years, my income comes overwhelmingly from investments made in the past, rather than ordinary income or earned annual income. I got a little bit of income from my book, but I gave that all away. Then, I get speakers fees from time to time, but not very much.'" (emphasis added)

What's the "not very much" in speaker's fees to clueless plutocrat Willard "Millionaire Mitt" Romney? Only $374,000. No wonder he doesn't want to release his tax returns.

Quote of the Day

"Willard Romney, stripper of companies, looter of pension, career gombeen man for the most unproductive 'industry' in the history of man, thinks that a discussion of the nation's staggering gap in inequality, and of the steady decline of a functioning middle-class, should be conducted in private, and not in the streets, where those hippies and their drum circles might disturb the plush japery of their betters. This is because, for Willard Romney, the world is divided into two kinds of people: Willard Romney and The Help." -- Another blog masterpiece by the unequaled Charles Pierce at Esquire.com. There's not a better progressive voice writing today.

Quote of the Day

"If, as was said, George W. Bush was born on third base and thought he hit a triple, then Willard Romney was born in the dugout with four runs in, nobody out, and the bases loaded." -- Esquire's ever-entertaining Charles P. Pierce. Read more of his takedown of Willard Romney here.
