Trump To Sign Loyalty Pledge? (Updated)

Here's what "two Republicans familiar with the move" are saying this morning:
GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump will sign a pledge Thursday to support the Republican nominee in next year’s general election, effectively ruling out a third-party or independent run, according to two Republicans familiar with the move.
If this holds (and we'll know for sure after Rump meets with Republican National Committee chair stuffing Reince Priebus and then holds his 2 p.m. EDT press conference), the man who considers himself a deal- making artist will have been snookered by Priebus (!) and opened the gates to a furious assault by "establishment" Republicans in existential fear of Rump getting the nomination.  When Rump closes the option of running as a third party candidate and pledges to support the nominee, he's giving up the leverage that he holds over the party:  that if they're "not nice" to him, he'll bolt.  If so, prepare to get hammered, Rump!

Then again, the "two Republicans familiar with the move" could be Priebus and the dead mouse he carries in his pocket, thinking this preemptive leak would box Rump in.  If that turns out to be the case and it backfires, it would prove beyond all shadow of a doubt that Priebus is indeed "the emptiest suit in American politics."

Or, even if Rump signs the pledge, would it mean any more to him than the matrimonial pledges he made to Ivana and Marla (haha)?  Stay tuned.

UPDATERump signed the pledge.  Worth it's weight in gold paper.  YOOGE!

For Trump, i am sure that breaking a pledge or a contract is simply a "business decision". In other words, the pledge or contract is meaningless.

Ultimately, whether it works out that way this time, you're absolutely right.
