Kennedy Center Head Vows Suit Over Cancellation

The Trumpist head of the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts is throwing a hissy fit over the cancellation of a jazz performance due to the unlawful renaming of the Center by the narcissistic oaf the Malignant Fascist.  Chuck Redd has organized the jazz event for the past 19 years and cancelled the "Jazz Jam" event in response to the unlawful renaming, prompting Richard Grenell to threaten a $1 million lawsuit for "damages," as reported by NBC News:

"Richard Grenell, a special envoy during Trump’s first term, blasted Chuck Redd, who has presided over the annual "Jazz Jam" since 2006, for citing the name change as his reason for canceling the event. In the letter, Grenell said the Kennedy Center will seek $1 million in damages for what he called a 'political stunt.'

'Your decision to withdraw at the last moment — explicitly in response to the Center’s recent renaming, which honors President Trump’s extraordinary efforts to save this national treasure — is classic intolerance and very costly to a non-profit Arts institution,' the letter read."

The actual "political stunt" was that of Grenell's cult leader President when he illegally plastered his name on the front of the memorial dedicated to President Kennedy.  It's characteristic of the MF and his cult to sue when their demands (i.e., extortions) are not followed, but in this case Grenell, an apparently self-loathing gay man in service to a fascist movement, may be up to his sleazy neck in lawsuits as acts cancel their appearances at the Center, refusing to indulge the MF's narcissism.

Zelenskyy Meets Trump For Peace Talks

Taking a break from several days of golfing, the Putin-aligned Malignant Fascist will meet with beleaguered Ukrainian President Zelenskyy today at his grift palace in Florida.  Zelensky is going to try to sell the MF on a new set of points that don't capitulate to Moscow, as originally proposed by his Kremlin stooge Steve Witkoff and his grifting son-in-law Jared "Mr. Ivanka Trump" Kushner.  From the Associated Press:

"President Donald Trump will host his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, on Sunday to try to close out a peace agreement that would end nearly four years of war sparked by Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine. Russia intensified its attacks on Ukraine’s capital and elsewhere in the days before the meeting.

The two will meet at Mar-a-Lago, Trump’s private club in Palm Beach, Florida, where the U.S. president is spending the holidays. Zelenskyy said the two planned to discuss security and economic agreements and he will raise “territorial issues” as Moscow and Kyiv remain fiercely at odds over the fate of the Donbas region in eastern Ukraine."

Meanwhile, as story continues, Putin unleashed multiple attacks on Ukraine in his continuing attempts to demoralize the Ukrainian population.  More:

"In response to the attacks, [Zelenskyy] wrote: “We want peace, and Russia demonstrates a desire to continue the war. If the whole world — Europe and America — is on our side, together we will stop” Russian President Vladimir Putin.

In a meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney in Halifax, Nova Scotia, on Saturday, Zelenskyy said the key to peace is “pressure on Russia and sufficient, strong support for Ukraine.” To that end, Carney announced $2.5 billion Canadian (US$1.8 billion) more in economic assistance from his government to help Ukraine rebuild."

Tellingly, master appeaser Witkoff recently stated that Moscow is "committed to achieving peace", parroting the Kremlin line, and not noting that Putin has frequently denied Ukraine's existence as a sovereign nation.  In essence, he's negotiating on behalf of war criminal Putin, and of course for the Russian tool MF himself by extension.

Slava Ukraini.

Brigitte Bardot 1934-2025

Brigitte Bardot, the iconic French actress and animal rights activist later known for her far-right views, has died at the age of 91:

French film legend Brigitte Bardot has died at the age of 91 at her home in southern France, her foundation said on Sunday, as tributes poured in from politicians and stars alike.

The Brigitte Bardot Foundation said in a statement, “The Brigitte Bardot Foundation announces with immense sadness the passing of its founder and president, Madame Brigitte Bardot, a world-renowned actress and singer, who chose to abandon her prestigious career to dedicate her life and energy to animal welfare and her foundation,” PA news agency reported.

The statement added: “The Brigitte Bardot Foundation wishes to pay tribute to the memory of an exceptional woman who gave up everything for a world more respectful of animals.

“Her legacy remains, living through the actions and battles that the foundation pursues with the same passion and the same loyalty to her ideals.”

Bardot was known worldwide as one of the most famous women in post-war cinema.

Known widely as BB because of her initials, pronounced bebe, the French word for baby, Bardot starred in dozens of movies, with "Et Dieu Crea La Femme" ("And God Created Woman") often seen as the film that propelled her to worldwide fame.

She played an 18-year-old orphan who turns men's heads in a film shot in the mid-1950s which pushed the boundaries in terms of acceptable sexuality on camera at the time.

Bardot also featured in major French films including Jean-Luc Godard's "Contempt" (1963), Louis Malle's "The Private Life of a Woman" (1962) and Henri-Georges Clouzot's "The Truth" (1960).

She starred in some 45 films including "A Woman Like Satan" (1959) and "With the Weapons of a Woman" (1958).

At the height of her career in 1973/74, she stepped away from the world of film. She was tired of the hype, she said. "I hate people. I find my balance in nature, in the company of animals."...

Unfortunately, that hatred of people was directed at certain groups:

In 1992, she married a friend and advisor to Jean-Marie Le Pen, founder of the far-right party Front National, now known as RN, which stands for Rassemblement National.

Bardot made no secret of her far-right views and later in life made headlines mainly for her misanthropic statements against gay people, French leftists, homeless people and illegal immigrants.

It's somewhat of a conundrum that  her love and commitment to animal rights didn't extend to all people.  A complicated legacy.

The Epstein files coverup / out of thin air / normal abnormal Trump distracting --

President Donald Trump gifted the world with nearly 200 Truth Social posts (and counting) on Christmas Day, where he amplified conspiracy theories about the 2020 election and called for a member of Congress to be deported.

Denmark lost more troops per capita in the post 9/11 war on Afghanistan. Saying they “are not a good ally” because they won’t surrender their territories to the US is lunacy. We are betraying our allies to satisfy the whims of a would-be Emperor for whom the US is not enough.

QOTD -- Vance's Whiteness Über Alles Message

"... I have noted often that when they searched for a leader for their party in 2016, Republicans decided that they would rally behind literally the worst human being in America, the walking collection of character flaws known as Donald Trump. Dishonest, ignorant, cruel, petty, narcissistic, bigoted, a tax cheat and a con man and a sexual abuser — how could they have done worse? But in some ways, JD Vance is worse, for one reason. Trump was born this way; Vance decided to become a monster. After going through a series of personal reinventions and name changes, he settled on the most repulsive version of himself, believing that it would bring him the power he has long sought.

"There are some problems, however. The first is that his ethnonationalist, exclusionary vision of America runs against everything we’ve been telling ourselves America is about for all our lives. That doesn’t mean it contradicts what America has often been in many ways, but the ideal of America as a place of inclusion holds extraordinary power. And what Vance is offering is therefore deeply un-American. It says that everything that has made our country dynamic and successful ought to be rejected, and it’s just hard to imagine a majority of American voters going for that..." -- Paul Waldman, The Cross Section on Substack, on "Why JD Vance Can't Ride Whiteness to the White House."  Vance's other main problem, as Waldman points out, is that Vance is "a black hole of charisma," and "a personally unappealing figure." He's not only delivering a fundamentally un-American message, but his inauthenticity in transitioning to the monster that he chose to become makes him doubly repellent.

Panicking Trump Wants "NO MORE" Epstein Files Released, Except...

... "No more" except for those including his political opponents, that is.  What a completely innocent person says:

President Donald Trump has called on the Justice Department to release the names of all Democrats tied to Jeffrey Epstein, as he called the controversy over the so-called Epstein files a “witch hunt” and a “Democrat inspired hoax.”

“Now 1,000,000 more pages on Epstein are found. DOJ is being forced to spend all of its time on this Democrat inspired Hoax,” Trump wrote Friday on Truth Social.

“When do they say NO MORE, and work on Election Fraud etc. The Dems are the ones who worked with Epstein, not the Republicans. Release all of their names, embarrass them, and get back to helping our Country! The Radical Left doesn’t want people talking about TRUMP & REPUBLICAN SUCCESS, only a long ago dead Jeffrey Epstein - Just another Witch Hunt,” he added.

This comes after Trump shared a Christmas Day rant about the investigation into the dead sex offender, claiming he cut ties with Epstein “long before it became fashionable.” He went on to call the controversy surrounding the Epstein files a “Radical Left Witch Hunt.”...

We take a moment to remind ourselves that the Malignant Fascist himself signed the legislation calling for the release of the full Epstein files (which forbids withholding records due to embarrassment, reputational harm, or political sensitivity for officials or public figures), after having his bluff called by Epstein survivors and with the bill's all-but-unanimous passage in the House of Representatives.  It's also always smart to remember that, with the narcissistic psychopath Malignant Fascist, every accusation is a confession.

The convicted sex abuser and felonious fraud is losing it over the inability of his enablers at DOJ to stop unredacted mentions of him (over 100 in the latest batch, including evidence that he made many more trips on Epstein's "Lolita Express" plane than he said he did).  He wants them to flood the zone with mentions of Democrats (we say, bring it on!) to create yet another distraction from his lengthy involvement with the child sex trafficker that the Epstein files doubtless confirm.  What's under those redactions must be simply awful for him to exhibit this level of panic.

Calgary To Banff

The Canadian Rockies in winter.  Banff.  Take an abbreviated drive through some of the most beautiful scenery on Earth (we know, we've been there).  This is what we'd call a windshield tour, with miles and miles of stunning, snow covered mountains.  The video ends rather abruptly but, as they say, it's the journey not the destination.  Definitely a full screen experience.

QOTD -- The Tide Is Turned

"... Trump ends the year weak and unpopular, his coalition dispirited and riven by infighting. Democrats dominated in the November elections. During Joe Biden’s administration, far-right victories in school board races were an early indication of the cultural backlash that would carry Trump to office. Now, however, Democrats are flipping school board seats nationwide.

"Much of the credit for the reinvigoration of the resistance belongs to Trump himself. Had he focused his deportation campaign on criminals or refrained from injuring the economy with haphazard tariffs while mocking concerns about affordability, he would probably have remained a more formidable figure. He’s still a supremely dangerous one, especially as he comes to feel increasingly cornered and aggrieved. After all, by the time you read this, we could well be at war with Venezuela, though no one in the administration has bothered to articulate a plausible rationale for the escalating conflict.

"But it’s become, over the past year, easier to imagine the moment when his mystique finally evaporates, when few want to defend him anymore or admit that they ever did. 'I think it’s going to be a rocky period, but I no longer think that Trump is going to pull an Orban and fundamentally consolidate authoritarian control of this country the way that it looked like he was going to do in March or April, said [Protect Democracy Executive Director Ian] Bassin, referring to Prime Minister Viktor Orban of Hungary. If Bassin is right, it will be because a critical mass of Americans refused to be either cowed or complicit." -- Michelle Goldberg, NYT, in "Resistance Is Getting Stronger" (gift link).  We've seen the movement in the electorate in less than a year, delivering victories across the country and at all levels of government, thanks to over- performing Democratic and anti- Trump turnout.  We saw the two "No Kings" demonstrations, the second growing even bigger than the first.  We saw some of the Malignant Fascist's maleficent agenda and projects shot down or delayed by courts.  It's becoming clearer to us every day that he sees his time coming to an end (the speed at which he's attempting to burnish his "legacy" via slapping his name everywhere).  His increasingly manic, desperate attempts to divert the public's attention from his scandals are failing.  The tide is turned.

Weekend Music

In November 1984, assorted British and American pop stars were assembled by Bob Geldorf and created a lasting Christmas song intended to raise awareness and funds to help Ethiopia overcome widespread famine caused by severe drought (it raised £8 million initially and over the past 4 decades the Band Aid Charitable Trust has raised over £150 million for various causes, though those claims are subject to dispute).  Though its creators were earnest and well- intentioned, over time there's been some rightful (and some misplaced) criticism of the imagery and lyrics of "Do They Know It's Christmas Time." But it remains an undeniably stirring anthem with a powerful, even if flawed imagery.  The poster has added the names of the stars (because 1984 -- that was a loooong time ago!).

Earlier this week, we posted the names and links to several charities that deliver food assistance in America and around the world, but obviously don't feel limited by these should you choose to give.

Trump's Demented Christmas Day Message

On Christmas night, the demented Malignant Fascist posted a typically hateful, threatening screed (amongst the many cheesy ads that adorn his failing social media site).  The concept that "every accusation is a confession" is fully borne out throughout this exhibition of a diseased mind:

He spends so much time tapping deranged thoughts out on social media, one has to wonder (beyond the clear evidence of an unwell, deeply disturbed person) when he has time for nodding off while presidentin'.

He may be the one who's enjoying his last Merry Christmas!
