"The Lie Factory"

That's the title of an article published over 3 years ago in Mother Jones that describes the manipulation of information and outright lying that went into building the case for invading Iraq. The group ("the Lie Factory") within the Pentagon that was responsible for developing the "story" about why war with Iraq was necessary was headed by noecon Doug Feith

Today's article in the WaPo confirms that the intelligence used by the Bush Assministration was incomplete and not credible. There was a clear mindset - - exemplified most by Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz and Feith at the Pentagon, and Cheney in the White House - - that war with Iraq was necessary, no matter how bogus the casus belli, whether it was weapons of mass destruction, connections to al Qaeda, or other threats to America. Not surprisingly, Dead Eye Dick was still peddling lies yesterday about al Qaeda's presence in pre-war Iraq, even as the contradicting Pentagon report was released.
