Sorry, But We're Not Sorry
No, we're not sorry to hear of Robert Novak's death at age 78. Churlish? Perhaps. But Novak, who proudly adopted the epithet "The Prince of Darkness," was a right-wing hack and shill for the powerful for over 40 years as a columnist and cable pundit. (Tellingly, among the first to rush out with press releases were Missy McConnell and Man Tan Boehner.) Infamously, Novak was responsible for gladly doing the Bush Assministration's bidding in outing CIA agent Valerie Plame in 2003, in one of his more scurrilous columns. He was neither a nice man nor an honorable "journalist." He won't be missed by us.
