It hasn't been a good weekend for Democratic pols. First, we have NY Gov. David Paterson rumored to be on the verge of resigning his office over new allegations of sexual misconduct (noodling in public with a woman not his wife). Next, we have the Democratic nominee for Lt. Gov. of Illinois, Scott Lee Cohen, dropping out of the race less than a week after being nominated in the Democratic primary, after a history of sexual abuse and threatening a former girlfriend with a knife surfaced.
We hold Democratic politicians to a high standard simply because the Democratic Party is the party of government. (The Rethugs? How can nihilists be a party of government?) So, when Democrats in politics abuse the public trust, it's particularly disturbing and disheartening.
