White House Posts Health Care Proposal
As promised 72 hours in advance of Thursday's health care reform summit, the White House has posted it's proposal for moving health care reform forward. TPM has the analysis and a link to the plan language. In brief, the proposal, as expected, builds on the Senate bill while modifying or stripping out some of the more objectionable elements (eg., the Nebraska Medicare kickback inserted by Sen. Ben "Dover" Nelson (DINO-Mutual of Omaha)), and adding what should be a popular proposal to curb or roll back excessive insurance rate hikes. The White House is also renewing its call for an "up or down vote," which sounds a lot like they're preparing for the reconciliation route to finish the health care bill once the Rethugs have had a chance to posture and pout. Oh, yes the Rethugs' plan? Nothing posted yet.
