Largely because the broken MSM needs political conflict and extremism to draw viewers/readers and survive, and the "Tea Party" charade filled that need. Also, it doesn't help that the MSM is timid in the face of right wing pressure and accusations of bias.

Gallup has a new poll out that indicates that the teabaggers are overwhelmingly conservative Rethuglicans. We're shocked, SHOCKED at this surprising revelation!
