Flunking Negotiating 101

With word that the upshot of today's White House meeting on tax cuts between President Obama and the Rethug Congressional leadership will be a followup session at Camp David, T.Bogg offers a preview of what is likely going to be the Administration's negotiating tactics. Another recent clue as to how the White House plans to approach this defining issue was the President's decision to freeze Federal civilian pay for the next two years, a Rethug wish that was granted without a give-back (see "Quote of the Day," below).

Between the White House and the independent operator Dems in the Senate (Chuckie Schumer, Bob Menendez, etc.) plumping for a variety of options other than the one the President said he was firm on about a month ago, we're headed for "Tax cuts for everyone -- thank you, GOP!"
