They Can't Stop Lying

You may have caught Rachel Maddow's show last night, when she opened her program with this story about a non-story. The right wing media and political echo chamber has been peddling a blatantly false story about how the President's upcoming trip to India and the far east will cost $200 million per day, and require 34 U.S. Navy vessels in support. The Pentagon and Secret Service have both debunked the figure as wildly inaccurate, but as Rachel points out, the wingnuts only listen to and believe themselves.

Wingnut Rep. Michele "I See Commies" Bachmann tried to spread the false tale on CNN's 360 with Anderson Cooper, who later did a "fact check" segment and exposed the figures as false.

No one should be at all surprised at this. The right wing is a continual lie factory, whether using chain e-mails, Fux News, or hate radio as their vehicle. The 2010 elections showed that they will lie about anything because they get away with it so often. Maybe now, that will change.
