Doing The Huck Shuffle
Former Rethuglican Governor and Fux Channel personality Mike Hucksterbee was on a hate radio show this past Sunday, and was asked a birther question by the host. Media Matters captured the interview, in which Hucksterbee stated that President Obama grew up in Kenya, listening to his father and grandfather, and absorbing "their view of the Mau Mau Revolution." Later, after being called on his lie, Hucksterbee backpedaled, saying that he misspoke. Really? After he seemed to know so much about the Mau Mau uprising, he got Kenya and Indonesia confused? Tell us another whopper, Huck.
The truth, of course, is that Obama spent most of his childhood in Hawaii -- where he was born -- with a few years spent in Indonesia. He's visited Kenya three times, the first time when he was in his late 20s.
The far right continues to spread whatever lies they can fabricate about President Obama's origin, faith, policies, etc. It's in their DNA, and it works because very few in the mainstream media call their lies out. The low information citizen / Fux audience laps it up, because they can't let go of the fact that America elected a black President with a "funny" name.
