Randian Adolescence

Some of the friction we've been noting in the right-wing ranks involves the fault line between "traditional conservatives" (i.e., "tards") and libertarians (i.e., "libertards"). Other fissures involve not so much ideology as pathology: i.e., the "outright nut" camp (Boo Hoo Beck, Bachmann, et al) versus the camp willing to exploit the "outright nut" camp (call them the "cynical hypocrites" -- Gingrich, Pawlenty, Trump, to varying degrees). We enjoy watching the fracturing, of course, as seen in the polling of potential Rethug candidates, where a substantial majority is unhappy with the selections to date.

In today's Kaplan Daily, former Bushie speechwriter Michael "Mushroom Cloud" Gerson, who for the time being falls in the "tard" camp, goes after the "adolescent" worshipers of Ayn Rand who occupy the most fetid swamps of the far right. Give credit to Gerson, though, for having enough sack to take on the brittle Randian ideology so forcefully. But let's keep the circular firing squad going, shall we?!

Let's not forget who the biggest Ayn Rand fan is - by his own admission - Alan Greenspan. Yikes!

Hi P.E.C. -- Right, it's very troublesome when you consider the large influence he had as Fed chairman. "Selfishness is good, altruism is bad" isn't good public policy!
