On this day in 1957, at the Woolton Church Parish Fete in England, Paul McCartney and John Lennon met for the first time. Lennon was in a skiffle band, The Quarry Men, and McCartney wanted to be included, showing Lennon and other band members how to tune a guitar. To coin a phrase, the rest is history, and one of the great songwriting duos in history was created.
