Plutocrat android Willard "I Like To Fire People" Romney's campaign is busy Etch-A-Sketching yesterday's admission by a top adviser that the individual mandate is a penalty, and not a tax (on the broad middle class, no less), as the Rethug apparatus has been proclaiming ever since the Supreme Court decision on the Affordable Care Act. We're not sure if the adviser in question, Eric "Keep Your Resume Updated" Fehrnstrom, who coined the famous "Etch-A-Sketch" analogy last spring, is taking sodium pentathol before these interviews, but it has the Rethug lie factory in a rage.
The mandate would affect less than 2% of the population, the people who can afford health insurance but would rather take a free ride courtesy of the rest of us. A good analogy would be those that have to pay a fine for, say, parking illegally, when the expectation is that you don't. Most Rethug politicians, of course, only think something's illegal (or a tax) when they want it to be.
UPDATE: Sure enough, Weathervane Willard is now contradicting his own campaign and calling the mandate a tax. That took about a day of furious Etch-a-Sketching!
