A Tragic Day in the Middle East

Yesterday's attack on U.S. diplomatic offices in Libya have resulted in the deaths of four Americans, most prominently the U.S. Ambassador to Libya, Christopher Stevens. Stevens, along with three other embassy officials, were killed in an attack by roughly 20 Libyan militants on the consulate in Benghazi. The Obama Administration issued this statement on the developments:
"I strongly condemn the outrageous attack on our diplomatic facility in Benghazi, which took the lives of four Americans, including Ambassador Chris Stevens. Right now, the American people have the families of those we lost in our thoughts and prayers. They exemplified America's commitment to freedom, justice, and partnership with nations and people around the globe, and stand in stark contrast to those who callously took their lives."
The attack in Libya, and a similar but nonfatal attack in Cairo, were set off by a viral video that insulted the Islamic faith, promoted by wing nut Florida "preacher" Terry Jones (he of "burn the Koran" fame) on the internet. Libyan and Egyptian extremists used the occasion of the 9/11 anniversary to provoke the violence.

Not surprisingly, Rethug nominee and international man of bungling Willard "Mr. Mo' Shambles" Romney stepped into the crisis immediately, without realizing that our ambassador had been killed, and issued a disgracefully partisan attack against the President. After being called on that bungle, Willard and his neocon foreign policy advisors decided to lie and double down. If you needed more evidence that a Mr. Mo' Shambles administration would be a Dumbya administration on steroids -- bellicose, bungling and literally shooting from the hip -- you need look no further than how he handled this situation.
