Lifelong Republican and former Bush Administration Secretary of State Gen. Colin Powell today on the CBS This Morning:
"You know, I voted for him [Obama] in 2008 and I plan to stick with him in 2012, and I'll be voting for he and Vice President Joe Biden next month."
Gen. Powell is what we would call a sane Republican, the kind that is practically extinct (think Indiana Sen. Richard Lugar, former Missouri Sen. John Danforth, former Florida Gov. Charlie Crist to name a few). It must be especially painful to these people to see how their party has gone so far off the rails that they've been left behind or, in some cases, left the party behind.
