Our Broken Media, Cont'd.
Yesterday on Press The Meat, simian-faced host David "Dancin' Dave" Gregory was "interviewing" Obama campaign strategist David Plouffe, when the subject turned to the attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi. As both Charles Pierce and Think Progress have noted, Dancin' Dave's set up question was a case study in fabricating "facts" that are intended to throw the interviewee and specifically the viewer off. Lying that President Obama has claimed al Qaeda had been defeated (among other misrepresentations), Dancin' Dave then wanted Plouffe to explain why the attack occurred on the consulate by al Qaeda affiliates in Libya.
Asking questions about the fluid situation in the Middle East and specifically about increased terrorist activity is entirely legitimate. Lying about what the President said as part of your question is inexcusable.
