The Joy of Bob Ross

"Happy little trees." "Happy little clouds." If those phrases seem at all familiar, you probably are aware of Bob Ross, of the Public Broadcasting System's popular "Joy of Painting" series. The often-parodied Ross, who would have been 70 yesterday (hence Google honoring him with a Google Doodle), died at the too-young age of 52 in 1995. His program couldn't have had a more appropriate name; with Ross you always felt the love and joy of what he was doing, all in the space of 30 minutes. Here's PBS' loving tribute to the man:
