Editorial of the Day: More on Makers and Takers

From today's Kaplan Daily, on the "contemptuous, contemptible" worldview of certain Rethuglicans:
[Quoting Fox "News" dick Bill O'Reilly:] “There are 50 percent of the voting public who want stuff. They want things, and who is going to give them things? President Obama. He knows it, and he ran on it.... You’re going to see a tremendous Hispanic vote for President Obama. Overwhelming for President Obama, and women will probably break President Obama’s way. People feel that they are entitled to things, and which candidate, between the two, is going to give them things?”

In a phone call with supporters Wednesday, Mr. Romney echoed some of the O’Reilly analysis. He attributed his defeat to the incumbent’s “gifts” to some of the same demographic groups whose rise troubles Mr. O’Reilly.

We believe, of course, that it's not just O'Reilly and Romney who have this worldview. It's millions more Rand-worshiping creeps, corporate and Wall Street "makers," inbred yokels and other plankton who form the broad base of the New Confederate/ Rethuglican Party. That a few Rethuglican office holders are pushing back on this viewpoint is encouraging, to the extent that they're coming to grips with reality and hoping to drag at least some of their mouth-breathing brethren back from the brink.
