From The Sports Desk...

The news that the University of Maryland and Rutgers University would be joining the Big 10 conference was a surprise, to say the least. Apparently, negotiations between the schools and the Big 10 picked up steam in just the last two weeks. Of great benefit to Maryland and Rutgers is membership in the Big 10's Committee on Institutional Cooperation, an intra-collegiate consortium which will boost their research efforts and lend more credibility to each school's academics. When will they change the name of the conference to the Big 14, or are they shooting for 20?

Interesting as this seems, we're still confident that our Badgers and Wolverines will set the standard for play in the Conference, be it 12, 14, or 20 teams.
