Deliver Us From Evil

All the crackpot action isn't in Washington, D.C., these days. Let's turn our attention to what we were always taught was "the armpit of the Midwest," the State of Indiana. That's where Bible-thumping State Sen. Dennis "Otto Yerass" Kruse (Rethug-Nutville) has offered a bill to allow schools to require recitation of the Lord's Prayer. Kruse, who is also (you can't make this stuff up, unfortunately) chair of the State Senate's Edumacation Committee, apparently hasn't read any Constitutional law in his life. If he had, he would know the Supreme Court has consistently forbidden organized prayer in the school as a violation of the Establishment Clause of the Constitution. Anyway, FREEDUMB!

Kruse has tried other ways to turn back the clock in his state:

This is not the first time Sen. Dennis Kruse, a Republican who also happens to chair the Senate education committee, has tried to inject Christianity into public schools. Last year, he led a push to introduce creationism into the science curriculum, and when that failed he tried to pass a bill that would have required teachers to provide “some kind of research to support that what they are teaching is true or not true.” (our emphasis)
... a standard we should also apply to Biblical teachings, right Professor Otto Yerass?
