The Push For Gun Control

Reports are circulating that the Obama Administration is considering broad gun control measures, including not only reinstatement of the assault weapons ban and a ban on high capacity clips, but also stringent background checks and a national database for tracking gun sales. Vice President Biden is heading up a working group made up of law enforcement officials and other interested parties to recommend specific legislative initiatives.

In the wake of the Newtown, CT massacre last month, national support for stricter gun control / gun safety measures is rising, despite a furious pushback from the National Rampage Association and their paid-for office holders. The NRA is pushing insane proposals to put more guns in the hands of more people, without requiring background checks for gun sales and without limiting the ammunition clips that can be bought.

We've seen after countless mass shootings how the public becomes inert after a period of time and after the NRA spreads its money and propaganda around. The Obama Administration has to act swiftly, so as not to squander the national consensus over the need for strong gun control / gun safety legislation.
