The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that for the month of April, the economy added a net of 165,000 jobs, higher than originally forecast, bringing the unemployment rate down a notch to 7.5%. The same report revised the jobs number for March substantially higher, from 88,000 new jobs added to 138,000 new jobs. April's jobs numbers mean that the economy has had 31 consecutive months of job gains.
The effects of Rethug-forced sequestration cuts won't be reflected in jobs numbers until the May-June numbers are reported, but that won't stop the Rethuglicans from claiming that the economy hasn't been affected by the cuts.
