Rethug Senator Blurts Out The Truth

In an interview with a Norristown, PA newspaper Tuesday, Rethuglican Sen. Pat "Me" Toomey acknowledged that Senate Rethuglican opposition to the gun sales background check bill that he co-sponsored with Sen. Joe Manchin was based simply on a desire to vote against whatever President Obama wanted.  Here's Toomey in his own words:
"There were some on my side who did not want to be seen helping the president do something he wanted to get done, just because the president wanted to do it.”
Sadly, it was only moments later that Toomey was trying to backpedal on his moment of truth.

When Rethuglican obstructionists have reached the point where they vote against a measure supported by 90% of the public,  that's political suicide in the long run.  They may believe that denying the President and Dems legislative victories makes them stronger politically, but they need only look at the sinking polls of their Rethug colleagues who voted against background checks to see the handwriting on the wall.
