Our thanks to dear friend and reader P.E.C. for pointing us to the story of the Landfillharmonic project, which is about poor people in the capital of Paraguay that have created musical instruments from picking through trash dumps. Discarded pipes became flutes, and wooden crates became guitars. With the combined efforts of a trash picker and a music teacher, they recycled the trash they found into creative instruments, and created hope for the poorest kids who are playing these instruments in an orchestra. If you follow the link, they have the story and a "donate" button, which we encourage all to do.
If this doesn't bring a lump to your throat, you should check to see if you have a pulse. It's incredible.
