"Obamacare" Succeeding In New York

The health insurance exchange set up in New York State will save individuals over 50% in health insurance costs, beginning in October, according to reports.   Individuals now paying $1,000 per month in health insurance will be able to choose a plan from among 17 insurers and could end up paying only $308 per month.

States like New York and California, which have implemented the insurance exchange feature of the Affordable Care Act, are experiencing large savings in insurance costs, and insurance companies compete to participate in the state exchanges.  There are still Rethug-controlled states that are working against the interests of their citizens for partisan reasons and refusing to set up state-wide exchanges that would make insurance companies compete to cover individuals (similar to the Federal Employee Health Benefits program, which covers Congress -- even wingnut Rethug Congresscritters).
