Time's Person of the Year
Not Time's Person of the Year: Rhode Island Bishop Thomas Tobin, self-identified registered Republican and critic of Pope Francis' emphasis on socio-economic issues, etc. over contraception, women's reproductive rights, and marriage equality.
Sadly, there are many Thomas Tobins in the American Catholic hierarchy, appointed leftovers from the time of conservative Popes John Paul II and Benedict XVI. As more people are drifting back to the Church as a result of Pope Francis' message of inclusion and humility, right-wing Bishops are stuck in the political narratives of the last century.
