In Passing
We note the passing of one of Hollywood's most famous stars, former child actor Shirley Temple, who has died at the age of 85. We can't say that we were fans, but one Hackwhacker daughter was, and had several videos of her classic movies, among them "The Poor Little Rich Girl," "The Little Princess", "Stowaway", and her first film "Little Miss Marker." Shirley Temple Black, as she was known in adulthood, served as Ambassador to Ghana and to Czechoslovakia under two Republican Presidents. From 1935- 1939, she was the most popular star in Hollywood, eclipsing even the "King of Hollywood" himself, Clark Gable. RIP.
