You could have knocked us over with a feather boa when we saw the story that Rethuglican North Carolina state Senate candidate and foe of marriage equality Steve "Mona" Wiles worked as a drag queen at a gay establishment ("Not that there's anything wrong with that!") in the early 2000's, going by the name of "Mona Sinclair" (fab-ulous name!). Initially, Steve / Mona strenuously denied the story, until photos and other evidence were produced. According to people who worked at the now-closed establishment, Steve / Mona was a frequent customer before he wowed them on the stage. Now, he's fielding questions about if his position on marriage equality has changed (it hasn't) and whether he's "ex-gay" (no comment).
Well, good luck to Steve / Mona in his ongoing political strip tease. Win or lose, there will always be a place for him entertaining at Rethuglican conferences and conventions.
