Will Russian Forces Withdraw?
Reports that Russian Federation autocrat Vladimir "Vlad the Invader" Putin has ordered his 40,000 Russian troops back from the border with Ukraine is a positive development, if it can be believed. Given Putin's predilection for lying, that's a big IF. It could very well be a stalling tactic to put off sanctions or to give time to the pro-Russian separatists to consolidate their position in the eastern part of Ukraine. The statement came after a meeting with Swiss President Burkhalter, where Putin also asked that pro-Russian separatists in Ukraine not hold a referendum on autonomy or union with Russia on May 11 that would spark more confrontation with the Ukrainian government.
