74 And Counting

Today's shooting at Troutdale, Oregon's Reynolds High School marks the 74th shooting in a school since the December, 2012 mass killing at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT.   That's more than one school shooting per week, with the majority occurring in K - 12 schools.  Two died in today's shooting, including the shooter.

From the shocked outrage after the killing of the children at Sandy Hook, most have become numb and resigned, but there are groups gaining momentum in fighting against the gun manufacturers and their wholly-owed legislators, most notably Moms Demand Action, which has been active in the fight against the "I'll-shove-a-gun-in-your-face-at-Chipotle" Open Carry ammosexuals.  Meanwhile, the body count rises.

Unfortunately this is a great burden America has placed on the Millenial Generation. When those children grow up having lost childhood friends to gun violence, and begin to exert political power, then we may be able to escape the image of failed state in which gun humping ammosexuals walk around and in which children being shot in schools, porches and playgrounds isn't just a nightly news blurb.

Well said, Gene. The day can't come too soon.
