Clearing The Air

Think Progress has a nice synopsis of the elements of President Obama's moves to clamp down on carbon emissions from nearly 500 coal-fired plants.  Under a proposed EPA rule, States would have to reduce the emissions of their coal-fired plants 25% by 2020 from 2005 levels, using a variety of options available.

One can count on this move being opposed to the bitter end by the coal industry and by coal-burning utilities, who have had decades to clean up their acts, but who have chosen profits over clean air.
