Report Calls for Overhaul of VA

The White House's report on the situation in the Department of Veterans Affairs has some scathing words for the culture that's caused severe hardship for veterans' care: "lack of responsiveness," "corrosive culture," and "arbitrary, ill-defined, and misunderstood" standards.  In the world of right-wing manufactured "scandals," this is an actual scandal that has lasted for decades, and has been made worse by a huge influx of Iraq and Afghanistan war veterans.

Added to the internal dysfunction and failure to deliver for the vets is the pernicious effect of Rethuglican political obstruction on everything from veterans' jobs programs to programs providing health care and education for vets, all in a cynical effort to make the Obama Administration "fail" on every front and hope voters aren't paying attention.  We expect Congressional Rethuglicans to form the same "hell no" bloc when it comes to implementing the recommendations for improvement that are coming out of this report.

UPDATE:  Obama intends to nominate Robert McDonald, former CEO of Proctor and Gamble, as the next VA Secretary.
