"I Have Never Been A Quitter"

Those were the words of disgraced former President Richard "Tricky Dick" Nixon on August 8, 1974. As it turned out, that proved to be untrue.  Here's the image of the letter he signed the next day, 40 years ago today, becoming the first and only President to resign rather than face trial in the Senate and almost certain removal from office:
