The other day, West (by God!) Virginny Republican state representative
Brian "Just Relax, Honey" Kurcaba said that a baby
conceived through rape is "a beautiful thing." He's since "apologized" for
getting caught making the statement, but his pre-"apology" beliefs reflect a mindset within the far-right's theocratic, keep-wimmin'-barefoot-and-pregnant reactionary core. It reflects the anti-medical science belief that women can't get pregnant unless they want to (see,
Akin, Todd and "legitimate rape"), and that men will decide whether women have babies or not, rape and incest or not
dammit!. These deeply disturbing views are the norm in far-right Rethuglican theocratic circles, who want to dictate the most personal decisions a woman can make, while railing against a "tyrannical gubmint" that's giving people affordable health care for the first time.
