Or-he-gone?

The bizarre arc of Oregon Gov. John Kitzhaber's fall from political grace may end soon.  The popular, 4-time Dem Governor is under great pressure from fellow Dems to step down after details emerged over his fiancé's contracts with the State of Oregon's Department of Energy.  That has since broadened to include Kitzhaber's asking state employees to delete personal e-mails from his state account, a serious violation which the employees refused to do.

The Governor's fiance, Cylvia Hayes, has a sketchy background, involving a sham marriage for money to an Ethiopian to skirt immigration laws and a marijuana-growing scheme in the '90s.  She's admitted to not disclosing some of these things to Kitzhaber, who is now the subject of a criminal investigation and who is facing the abrupt termination of an otherwise honorable career.  Sad.

UPDATE: Kitzhaber has announced he's resigning, effective next Wednesday.
