Legislation We Can Support

The other day, über wingnut Rep. Steve "Cantaloupe Calves" King (Bigot-IA) introduced legislation to thwart the growing trend of courts overturning laws banning same-sex marriage.  (You'll recall that King, in addition to his homophobia, is an outspoken extremist when it comes to immigration and an anti-Semite when it comes to progressive Jewish Americans). When King introduced his aforementioned legislation, the idiotic "Restrain the Judges on Marriage Act of 2015," openly gay Rep. Jared Polis (D-CO) fired back with his own tongue-in-cheek legislation, the "Restrain Steve King from Legislating Act." In a statement accompanying the bill, Rep. Polis said:
"For too long, Steve King has overstepped his constitutionally nonexistent judicial authority. Mr. King has perverted the Constitution to create rights to things such as discrimination, bullying, and disparate treatment. These efforts to enshrine these appalling values as constitutional rights were not envisioned by the voters, or by King’s colleagues who must currently try to restrain his attempts to single-handedly rewrite the nation’s founding principles on a bill-by-bill basis."
Well said, Congressman Polis.  If it were only possible….
